God beams over Rolling Hills, Santa Cruz Mt, CA

Just after the rain storm, the clouds break up and allow the Sunlight to filter through giving rise to Crepuscular Rays (commonly known as God beams). The Pacific ocean is seen at a distance.

I almost ran from the trail head and quickly composed the image in my mind before taking out my camera. Since the light was only good in a part of the scene, I opted for a telephoto lens to compress the layers and allowed the hills to render as silhouettes. The clouds provided desired warm/cool color contrast and provided enough drama to carry the image.

Post processing involved regular raw file development followed my mild sharpening and conversion to JPEG.
