A blossoming flower, in a garden at Stanford

Posted by Vaibhav (Stanford, United States) on 13 August 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

It feels so good to officially join the category of photobloggers. I was trying to start this for a while and finally today is the day and what an auspicious day it is. Today is the Hindu festival of Janmashtami (the day we celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna) and I feel blessed that today He has given me an inspiration to start my photoblog. I will strive to be honest with my postings and will try to reply to most of the comments I get for the uploaded images. Thanks to everyone for looking and sharing their thoughts.

I made this photo at a local garden near to my apartment at Stanford. There were sunflower's growing around this flower and in reality I had gone to the garden thinking about photographing sunflowers. After taking a few shots of the sunflower's, I saw this particular bud and thought that a blurred sunflower will provide a good backdrop to it. Then adjusting the aperture to give me the required DOF, selecting the shutter speed to ensure no blown highlights, I waited for the warm evening light to fall on the flower and then clicked.
